Avoid This Cookie (Bad Day Inside)

Traditionally, fortune cookies contain messages that are more optimistic. But Wonton Food, the country's largest fortune cookie maker, has been including more downbeat messages in its cookies recently.
It's bad enough that people live very intense lives and now even the Fortune Cookie is making it worse. I know I eat Chinese food and soon as I am done I want to read my fortune. It really sucks after enjoying such a good meal it is all ruined by a bad cookie.

Mom Takes Cloths Off to Support Kids!

A tongue-in-cheek plan hatched by a group of Spanish moms to raise money for their children's rural school has backfired. The seven middle-aged women posed for an "erotic" calendar last November. It was initially a big hit, but sales have since slumped. Here, ItziarZamarreno appears as Miss October.
I Understand that these moms were trying to do something good for their children by raising money, however from the looks of this photo this woman set a bad example and possibly traumatized her child. She is sitting half naked with a gun and a dead animal, nice and they say all the violence comes from T.V. and video games.

Clinton Downs Shot of Whisky on Trail

CROWN POINT, Ind. (April 13) - Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is used to taking shots on the campaign trail. But on Saturday, she took a shot of a different sort while campaigning in Indiana. The New York senator stopped at Bronko's restaurant in Crown Point and drank a glass of beer, along with a shot of Crown Royal whisky with Hammond, Ind., Mayor Tom McDermott and bar owner Nick Tarailo.
Is that who you want answering the White House phone?

Tavern Tax Service Mixes Beer and Taxes

HOBOKEN, New Jersey (April 11) - The sounds of the Rolling Stones pour from the speakers while beer glasses are filled and a jovial game of darts takes place 10 feet away. It's just another night at the office for Carmine Sodora, certified public accountant. Sodora founded Tavern Tax in 2005. For 10 weeks leading up to the April 15 deadline to submit U.S. income tax returns, he brings his tax-filing services to bars on weekday nights and weekend afternoons. He didn't know of anyone else offering such a service. "I always say to people, 'Where's your beer? I can't have one but you can,'" Sodora said. Although this year he has focused on Hoboken -- a small New Jersey city across the Hudson River from Manhattan, and home to 53 bars and a young population -- he has worked out of New York City bars in the past. "I was looking to expand my personal tax business. It's primarily to go after a demographic -- yuppies," the 30-year-old said, referring to young urban professionals. "I've seen a 75 percent repeat, year after year." At an Irish pub on Wednesday night, Sodora set up shop under a "Tavern Tax" sign with a fold-up table covered with a framed photo of laughing friends, his laptop and a lamp. One by one, clients relaxed in the chair across from him, handing over documents and sipping on beer. "It's more relaxed. Everyone hates to do their taxes," said Hoboken resident Juliet Murphy, 32. "If you can combine it with something you like, it numbs the tax pain."

I guarantee that this man will make a great deal of money this tax season. I think this little tax business that Sodora made in a bar is ingenious. I myself do not worry about tax season but my mother and older relatives have been complaining all my life about filing for taxes. Especially this year from the people I know everyone has been getting hit pretty hard in the tax department. Setting up shop in bars is perfect to target that younger working population. I look at it like this many young working people from like 21-30 are just starting to get settled with being are their own. All their lives they heard older people complain during tax season, especially this year; that a bar setting is ideal for young people. While the accountant goes through the processing, you can have a beer to relax, then if its bad news you can at least numb the pain =]

Police: Man Used Hedgehog As Weapon

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - A New Zealand man has been accused of assault with a prickly weapon - a hedgehog. Police allege that William Singalargh, 27, picked up the hedgehog and threw it at a 15-year-old boy in the North Island east coast town of Whakatane on Feb. 9. "It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks," police Senior Sgt. Bruce Jenkins said Monday. The teen did not need medical treatment, he added. Police arrested Singalargh shortly after the incident, and charged him with assault with a weapon - "namely the hedgehog," Jenkins said. At a hearing in Whakatane District Court on Feb. 14, Singalargh's lawyer said he intended to plead innocent, The Herald on Sunday newspaper reported. The case is due to resume on April 17. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, Jenkins said. "People often get charged with assault for throwing things at other people," Jenkins said, although he admitted the use of a hedgehog as a weapon was "uncommon." It was unclear if he also would face animal cruelty charges. The Herald said the hedgehog was dead when it was collected as evidence, but did not know if it was dead or alive at the time of the alleged attack. The Herald reported Singalargh's arrest under the headline "Raise your hands and step away from the hedgehog."
This article interested me so much just for the simple fact it involves a hedgehog which is animal you really don't often here about. Up until a few years ago I thought Sonic was the only one and that it was just a character that was made up but no no no they do exist and clearly can be used as a weapon. I find rather funny that this man just threw this animal at this teen who was probably just provoking him and got fed up. I hope that the animal was already deceased before it was used as a weapon because I am an animal lover an would be rather upset to find out otherwise. Even if it wasn't, me personally would not be able to pick up a dead animal and throw it at someone but if provoked enough I would go to extreme measures. Now I'm not saying this man was right or wrong but it seems to me that this teen had to be doing something to annoy this adult to make him pick up an animal and improvise it as a weapon rather clever in my book. I just think both sides of the story should be looked at before they begin to pass judgement on this man.

Stingray Leaps Onto Boat, Kills Woman

Judy Kay Zagorski of Pigeon, Mich., died Wednesday after this spotted eagle ray leapt out of the water and struck her face while she was boating with her family off the Florida Keys. The impact, which knocked the 57-year-old backward, likely killed her. She did not appear to have puncture wounds from the stingray's barb.
This is just an insane tragedy that occurs when nature and humans collide. There is nothing to really discuss about this bizarre happening except for the beauty of this animal. Stingrays tend to emerge from the water when they are giving birth, running from a predator, or simply cleaning themselves off. It fascinates me how fate works to think that this woman was just enjoying her day at ease on a boat and this magnificent animal was perhaps trying to escape the grasps of a predator and ended up on this woman's boat. It is a shame that a live had to be lost however it really shows that someone out there as a plan for all the creatures on this planet.

Border Separates Senior Center Couple

PROVO, Utah (AP) - A 96-year-old man who outlived two wives is separated from his third - by immigration problems. Canadian Doreen Buttery, 73, was a temporary visitor when she met Leonard "Woody" Woodward at a senior center in Provo. They wed this year and honeymooned in Alberta - which gave Buttery the chance to sell her house and prepare to move to Provo permanently. But she hadn't filled out the paperwork to immigrate and was stuck at the border as her husband took the bus back to Provo. "We tried to provide her as much guidance as we could," said Larry Overcast, port director at the Customs and Border Protection entry point in Sweetgrass, Montana. Woodward and a neighbor who has a law degree are trying to put together the paperwork to bring Doreen back. But it is a complicated process that takes time. "It's on a merry-go-round," Woodward said. Buttery will also have to go through an interview, so U.S. officials can determine the marriage is legitimate and not just an attempt to bypass immigration rules. Woodward said can still get by on his own, but he doesn't like it. "I need her home, bad," he said
This is a perfect example of what is wrong with this country and why we have immigration problems. I live on Staten Island in a decently nice neighborhood however just walking outside I see a huge immigration problem and its not involving 73 year old women. I see about 40 Mexicans on the street corners in my neighborhood waiting to be picked up and brought to a days work. Now I am not saying that these are the only illegal immigrants in this country I am just giving examples of what I see everyday. Now because they are illegal they do not pay taxes and their children go to public school and get an education on the tax dollars of American citizens. Now I am not saying kick all illegal immigrants out I am just making a connection with the two. I mean if we can support families and generations of illegal immigrants in this country why can we just let the 73 year old woman pass by smoothly. She is at least attempting to do things the right way and we give her grief I mean how much damage could she possibly cause, tax payers will help pay for her medicaid and whatever other expenses the elderly require but she would be a citizen who pays taxes so realistically she would be pulling her own wait unlike the thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants who made it here. I'm not saying deport everyone I am just saying that there is an obviously immigration problem in this country so instead of hounding old woman in Canada maybe we should stop the young people from poorer countries that are just coming here to start a family and make a better life and add to the immigration problem. Its not like this woman can reproduce added to the overcrowded problem in this country.

Court rejects woman's damages claim for having kebab thrown at her!!

MUNICH, Germany (AP) - A German court on Monday rejected a fast-food stall worker's demand that an irate customer pay her damages for throwing a half-eaten kebab at her. The claim stemmed from an altercation in June at the woman's kebab outlet. The Munich administrative court said the customer unsuccessfully demanded his money back, then threw away the kebab.
The court said in a statement that the woman, who had claimed damages of at least euro250 (US$394), failed to prove her claim the customer had called her a "stupid cow." She also claimed that he threw the kebab at her, and that she only narrowly avoided the projectile. However, the customer asserted that he had thrown it behind the counter, not at her. The court said it didn't matter. It ruled that the woman was not entitled to damages because being targeted with a kebab does not constitute a "serious violation ... of human dignity and honor." Neither the customer nor the woman was identified. The court said it delivered its ruling on March 14, and that no appeal was possible.
I am so sure that this man did not throw the kebab at the store owner. I worked at Modell's Sporting Goods where it is all customer service and pleasing the customer. I have been cursed at, degraded, and scolded by angry customers that are not with there service. I find it hard to believe that this man threw it out behind the counter with no intent to hit the woman, however I find it reasonable that the woman is being awarded no damages because there is no way to prove the incident. Instead of trying to sue the man the day the incident occurred I would have had the man escorted out of my establishment and embarrassed him in any way possible. He had some nerve to get angry and throw the kebab but there could have been a much easier way of handleing the situation. It is in human nature to fear embarrassment so if I were the woman that is what I would have caused this imbecile, if that was me getting a kebab thrown at me I would have won a Golden Globe for my performance because I would have definately made a seen just to embarrass this irate moron.

Students Apparently Copied Honor Code

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Their goal was an honor code that discouraged cheating and plagiarizing. However, the wording in a draft by students at the University of Texas at San Antonio appears to match another school's code - without proper attribution.
The student currently in charge of the honor code project said it was an oversight, but cheating experts say it illustrates a sloppiness among Internet-era students who don't know how to cite sources properly and think of their computers as cut-and-paste machines. "That's the consequence of the Internet and the availability of things," said Daniel Wueste, director of the Rutland Institute for Ethics at Clemson University. "It doesn't feel like what would be in a book. You Google it and here it comes." Student Akshay Thusu said that when he took over the project a month ago he inherited a draft by earlier project participants, including a group of students who attended a conference five years ago put on by The Center for Academic Integrity at Clemson. Materials from the conference, which are used by many universities, were probably the main source of UTSA's proposed code, Thusu said. That's why parts of the Texas draft match word-for-word the online version of Brigham Young University's code.
BYU credited the Center for Academic Integrity, but the San Antonio draft doesn't.
That will change, said Thusu, who plans to include proper citation and attribution when the draft is submitted to the faculty senate. "We don't want to have an honor code that is stolen," Thusu said.
Obviously you do have a code that is stole this is why there is an article about it. I find this so interesting because every college in today's world takes plagiarism rather seriously and have so many rules and regulations on it. However I think it is hysterical that a University was caught plagiarizing the code for plagiarizing from another school. I understand that the Internet makes it so easy for people to just copy and paste words and make them as their own but I would think that a college writing about plagiarism would at least re-word the items they copied and pasted, I mean everyone has copied and pasted something into a paper but those who do are usually smart enough to change the words around so that it is not word for word because than some one could simply copy and paste phrase in Google and presto the plagiarism plan is foiled and your University looks like a complete joke. If I were a student here I would completely make a whole extravaganza out of this. I would take the mission statement and other University code and just try to find a bunch of similarities and post them all over and underneath I would write plagiarism is bad unless your in charge or at least good at it =]

Man Writes Toilet Paper Check for Bill

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (March 27) - An upstate New York man embroiled in a dispute over his water bill is not being allowed to pay off his debt with a check written on toilet paper. Ron Borgna tried to settle his $2,509.66 bill with a check written on floral print, two-ply toilet paper Wednesday. The disagreement began in September 2006 when Borgna received a $422.90 water bill. Borgna claims he was overbilled. With additional charges, penalties and late fees that bill has grown. Binghamton city officials refused to accept the check. After a short argument, Borgna was escorted out of the building.
Borgna says he is appealing the judgment against him in small claims court.
This is an outrageous article that I wanted to share with everyone. Fine I understand the man did not want to pay the bill because he felt he was over charged but, for him to write it on toilet paper and cause a whole seen for the company not accepting the payment is ridiculous. First off how is toilet paper in any one's mind suitable for a check payment, I mean come on there are certain numbers on checks linking it with the bank that contains the money needing to be paid. I have no idea what this man was thinking when he decided to write a check on a piece of Charmin but the nerve of him to then fight with the company because they will not except it, who is a check on a piece of paper supposed to pay the Quilted Northern ladies? If I was the water company I would turn this man's water off for the mear fact that he is incompetent and send a letter on a piece of toilet paper notifying him that the water will be turned off.

Alaska Couple Married in Swimming Pool

NIKISKI, Alaska (AP) - The cake was in the shape of a pool and the walk down the aisle was replaced by a zip down a water slide as Mark Confer and Joanne Wainwright took the plunge into marriage - literally. The two were married Saturday in a swimming pool. Instead of jumping in with both feet, they came whooshing around and down the pool's 136-foot slide. The couple then bowed their heads while Scott Coffman, senior pastor at College Heights Baptist Church, blessed their marriage. Confer and Wainwright are dedicated to physical fitness. Confer's passion is skiing, while Wainwright has swum competitively and coached high school swim teams most of her life. "I always would tell my students if I ever got married in Alaska I was going to get married at the Nikiski pool," Wainwright said. According to its Web site, the enclosed, heated pool is open year-round and offers "excellent views of the surrounding terrain and wildlife." On top of their pool-shaped wedding cake, the couple placed a tiny bride and groom coiled on the diving board, ready to dive in.
This has to be the cutest wedding idea I have ever heard of, the whole concept is great in my eyes. The fact that the went down a water slide as their aisle and their cake was shaped like a pool is such a good idea. Most weddings are the standard church wedding with the reception following, I think this fun-filled wedding is absolutely unique and romantic. They must of had a beautiful view of the landscape of Alaska while they were making this commitment of love. The fact that the two of them agreed on such an outrageous wedding really shows me that they truly do love one another and respect each others free spirit.

Race in Heels Trips Man on Workers Comp

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Prosecutors say a video shows a Connecticut correction officer running a 40-yard-dash in women's clothing and high heels - at a time he had claimed he was too injured to work. Garrett A. Dalton of Naugatuck has been charged with workers compensation fraud. He's accused of taking part in a radio station's contest for Hannah Montana concert tickets last year. Not only did he have to dress in drag but he had to carry an egg on a spoon. Authorities were alerted after someone saw Dalton in a TV news report. Prosecutors say the 41-year-old collected more than $5,000 in workers' compensation after he reported a work-related injury in June. Court documents do not list an attorney for Dalton, and his phone number is unlisted. And no, he didn't win the contest.
I do not know how the law works against something like workers compensation fraud however I think a suitable punishment for this man would be to simply pay back whatever fraudulent money he may have made. I mean for him to get caught in this scandal while dressed in drag and trying to win Hannah Montana tickets should be humiliating enough. Obviously he was doing it for his child to go to the concert and he did not even win so he was em brassed, he did not satisfy his child, and because of his attempts is now facing criminal charges, talk about bad luck. I do not think the man was thinking about his chance of actually getting in trouble and was just trying to make his child happy so if they put him in jail that seems a bit unfair don't you think?

World's Tallest Man Struggles to Fit In

PODOLYANTSI, Ukraine (March 24) - Leonid Stadnik's phenomenal height has forced him to quit a job he loved and to stoop as he moves around his house. But Stadnik, who Guinness World Records says is the world's tallest human, says his condition has also taught him that there are many kindhearted strangers. Since his recognition by Ukrainian record keepers four years ago, and by Guinness last year, people from all over Ukraine and the world have sent him out sized clothing, provided his home with running water and recently presented him with a giant bicycle. And on Monday, he got a new car, courtesy of President Viktor Yushchenko. "Thanks to good people I have shoes and clothes," said the 37-year-old former veterinarian, who still lives with his 66-year-old mother.
Although an 8 foot tall man is a bit intimidating and rather scary he is still a human being. I am glad to present this article to people and show that there are still some kind hearted people in this world. This man has probably suffered from depression because of how people must react to his size, but thanks to the few good people in the world he does not have to feel like such an outcast. At least people were kind enough to send him cloths and other forms of generosity showing that there is some humility left in the world. When I read this article it made me think about staring and judging people which is something I think all of us should try and do from time to time.

Home Ransacked After Craigslist Hoax

Dozens of people descended on Robert Salisbury's Oregon home after ads posted on Craigslist Saturday said his belongings -- including his horse -- were free for the taking. But the ads were a hoax. When Salisbury returned home, some people refused to stop taking his things. The Jackson County Sheriff's office is inviting people to return the goods no questions asked. Those who don't, it says, will be "part of the theft case."
I do not understand how people could believe someone would be giving all of their stuff away for free. Not only did people take this man's stuff they refused to stop when he explained that the whole thing was a mistake. These people should be charged with theft and have it on their record, for those who stopped and gave the stuff back should be let free with no consequences. This article scares me into seeing how dumb some people are to believe a post on the internet that makes relatively no sense what so ever, what is happening to the intelligence of our race?

Congress Bid by Ex-Narc Who Backs Pot!!

DALLAS (AP) - A former narcotics officer who advocates the legalization of drugs has a new career goal - congressman. Barry Cooper is running as a Libertarian candidate in the 31st Congressional District in Central Texas. He faces Republican incumbent John Carter and Democrat Brian P. Ruiz, a consultant. None of the three has an opponent in Tuesday's primary. Cooper, a police officer in several Texas towns, became a successful narcotics officer after joining the Permian Basin Drug Task Force, a regional group in West Texas. Cooper, 38, said he took part in 800 drug busts, and seized more than 50 vehicles and $500,000 in cash and assets. However, he soured on his former profession and now advocates the legalization of drugs, saying that would mean addicts could receive better treatment and drug-related crimes would decrease. Cooper said laws prohibiting the growing, selling and consumption of drugs, marijuana in particular, are misguided. "Americans are not going to stop growing it, they're not going to stop buying it, they're not going to stop smoking it, even if you continue to put them in jail," Cooper said. He has been selling tips on marijuana use. His latest DVD, "Never Get Raided," shows how to buy, sell and grow pot without going to jail, and how to identify undercover officers.
I chose to show you readers this article to support my last post. This is an ex-narcotics police officer that is for pot being legalized and is now running for Congress. This man is well experienced in dealing with drugs and even he thinks that pot should not be taken as seriously as they have been over the past years. This is probably because it costs us as U.S. citizens thousands of dollars a year to put all of these offenders in prison. I feel if this country starts to focus on the more serious crimes and stop trying to fill seats in prisons we might save some money in taxes or at least put it toward education and not housing minor criminals. I hope Cooper gets into Congress because instead of trying to make laws harsher for minor offenses I feel he might try and emphasize on the more serious crimes like murder and rape. I guess we’ll have to see what happens but I’m hoping it’s going to turn around soon because we as a country are beginning to split.

Pot Still Illegal, Even if It's Recycled!!

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A pot grower in northern California is following nature's rules, if not the law. Workers who were sorting items at a San Jose recycling center last week found a large trash bag full of marijuana plants. The center collects leaves, tree limbs and other natural material for composting, but San Jose police say the plants won't end up that way. Instead they'll be held as evidence of a crime. Police say the marijuana could have come from anywhere in Santa Clara County. They don't know how much of the pot in the bag was sellable.
Pot has never been a really big issue in this country. Obliviously many Americans have been doing it for many years and it has always been loosely handled. The 60's and 70's were two decades where many people used pot on the regular and the law really never took it as a huge threat. This is why I can't understand why the police in California are trying to track down this pot-grower. Like there are not hundreds of more dangerous crimes being committed while they are on a hunt for someone who in my opinion is not that bad of a person. Honestly, many people in the U.S. smoke pot or have experimented with it in their lifetimes and you never here of anyone dying from a pot related incident. So people are going to smoke it no matter what at least the person who was growing it had the common decency to recycle it for composting, meanwhile there are plenty of high-class people who all supposedly abide by the law that don't recycle and contribute to the pollution of this earth. Basically I think it is ridiculous that the police are wasting their time looking for the person who recycled pot and not looking for all the rapist and murders out there.

Bank Accidentally Gives Man $5 Million!

New York (AP) - A man was charged with withdrawing $2 million from an account after a bank confused him with a man who has the same name. Benjamin Lovell was arraigned Tuesday on grand larceny charges. The 48-year-old salesman said he tried to tell officials at Commerce Bank in December that he did not have a $5 million account. He says he was told it was his and he could withdraw the money. Prosecutors said the bank - which advertises itself as America's Most Convenient Bank - confused Lovell with a Benjamin Lovell who works for a property management company. The lesser-funded Lovell gave away some of the withdrawn money and blew some of it on gifts, but lost much of it on bad investments, prosecutors said. The district attorney's office did not immediately have information on his lawyer. Calls left with Commerce Bank on Wednesday were not immediately returned.
The less fortunate Lovell should not be drawn up on these charges because although he must of known there had to be a mistake, however the bank should not have insisted it was his money. Plus the Lovell should have realized that a significant amount of money was missing from his account. This man obviously had the money for a decent amount of time to lose it on investments. I feel that this man should not be arrested and Commerce Bank should replace the money to the correct Lovell due to their major error. It is not the other mans fault that he used this money that was not his because honestly it is human nature to value money and when someone is giving you free money of course you are going to take it.

'Naked Cowboy' Sues for $6 Million!

For nearly a decade, Robert Burck has been a fixture in Times Square, where he strums a guitar on a street corner while dressed in his skimpy signature costume. In a lawsuit filed this week in Manhattan federal court, Burck said that two oversized Times Square billboards that promote M&Ms used his look without compensating him. The billboards feature a scantily clad blue M&M with a guitar alongside views of New York including street scenes and the Statue of Liberty. Burck is suing privately held Mars Inc., which makes M&Ms, and Chute Gerdeman Inc., an Ohio agency that he said created the ad, for trademark infringement. Neither company was immediately available for comment. "Just like The Naked Cowboy does on a daily basis in Times Square, the M&M is not only dressed as "The Naked Cowboy ," it is playing the Naked Cowboy 's distinctive white guitar in the cartoon," the lawsuit said. Mars and Chute Gerdeman "decided to exploit and trade upon The Naked Cowboy 's well-recognized likeness without a license and without furnishing any compensation," the lawsuit said. Burck has trademarked his signature look and has made several television and movie appearances in costume, including for a televised audition on the "American Idol" reality TV program, the lawsuit said.
Burck has made a significant living off of his trademark as the “Naked Cowboy” and M&M did imitate him without paying him, which is wrong. However, for this man to sue for 6 million dollars is a bit ridiculous. It is ridiculous enough that he has made a living off such a stupid performance, however good for him if we as Americans want to pay him to do these stupid antics fine. However, for this man to become a millionaire because the Mars candy company made an M&M look like him is outrageous. He should be able to get some money because they did steal his logo but he would have gladly sold them the rights to use it if they had asked for a great deal cheaper guaranteed. Now because he knows he can make money off of it he is just plain greedy and making a big deal over candy.

State investigates midget wrestling event

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A suburban Des Moines nightclub may have violated state law when it hosted "extreme midget wrestling." Venues are required to post a $5,000 bond and pay taxes on revenues at events, such as professional boxing and wrestling. The Vieux Carre nightclub in West Des Moines hosted the Half Pint Brawlers, a traveling group that does stand-up comedy, stunts and fake wrestling shows, last Friday night. Dave Neil, the state's labor commissioner, said the event is considered professional wrestling under Iowa code and that the club should comply with the requirements. Club Owner Tom Baldwin disagrees. "It's just kind of a carnival-like show," Baldwin said. "It'd be no different than going to the Funny Bone" comedy club. Baldwin's club could face a fine of up to $5,000. The Union bar in Iowa City also is facing a similar inquiry after a similar show in December.

I feel that the state of Iowa should be fining these clubs for these “circus-like” events because I feel what they are doing is morally wrong. Although the midgets may not care that people are just there to watch and laugh at them but, it is still worng. So the clubs may be legally allowed to hold these degrading events however they should abide by the state’s laws and since they did not they should be fined not only because they broke the rules but because what they are doing is just plain wrong.

A Valentine's Day break: S.C. radio station offering free divorce to some lucky unhappy couple

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Charleston radio station is observing Valentine's Day with a reminder that Cupid sometimes misses his mark. WKLC-FM, better known as Rock 105, is giving away a free divorce. Valentine's Day isn't all hearts and flowers, says WKLC Program Director Jay Nunley. There is a darker side, he said, "Where maybe you despise your spouse and resent the entire day." Through 4 p.m. on Thursday, Valentine's Day, applications for the free divorce will be accepted on the classic rock station's Web site, www.wklc.com. The winning name will be drawn at 5 p.m. Nunley cautions that this is a real divorce and people shouldn't enter if they aren't serious. Also, people expecting a long, drawn-out legal battle should hire a lawyer because the Rock 105 contest is for a relatively uncomplicated divorce.

No wonder the divorce rate in this country is so high, this radio station is making a mockery out of a holiday about love and making it about getting out of love. I definitely agree that there are a great deal of unhappy couples out there in this world, however I do not feel that divorce should be promoted because making a contest like this may cause couple to just take the easy way out and not even try to work out their differences. Marriage is supposed to be a sacred act about love and Valentine’s Day is supposed to be the day when the act of love is celebrated but, making a contest promoting divorce on this day makes it seem like love and marriage do not me anything special at all.

Teen faces WMD charge after plastic egg explodes!

In Middletown, Pa. An 18-year-old man is charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction, risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and simple assault. Police say he ignited a plastic egg filled with plastic air-gun pellets in a flea market, hitting at least five people and causing alarm. It happened Saturday afternoon at a Saturday's Market in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County.
Although charging this teen with a WMD charge is a bit extreme this kid definitely needs to be punished. He didn't make a bomb or anything that could cause mass destruction however, this immature teen took an idea and concept that is very real and very scary and put a teenagers twist on it took cause fear and alarm. Now this kid is not a terrorist but the concept of terrorism is to instill fear in people and cause them to become alarmed and that is what this teen did in Pennsylvania. I disagree with the fact that they are charging this man with a WMD charge because he could not have caused mass destruction but, I do respect this small town for recognizing the fact that this kid was making a parody of terrorism the thing that we in the U.S. are fighting against. I feel they are making an example out of this man for all those who think terrorism is a joke!

Brazil Carnival Star Eyes Surgery Record

Angela Bismarchi, 36, is hoping to set the world record for most plastic surgeries. The Brazilian model has had 42 operations, making her a celebrity in her home country. In preparation for Rio's five-day Carnival blowout in February, she's having her 42nd plastic surgery - closing in on the Guinness World Record of 47 surgical procedures held by 52-year-old American Cindy Jackson, who calls herself a "Living Doll" and now promotes her own skincare line.

Now this is a strange but true article featured on AOL news, however, the strange truth behind this article is how the world bases a great deal on looks. The main fact that the current record holder is an American entrepreneur now because of the amount of plastic surgeries she has had speaks a great deal about this country. The fact that the United States feeds this woman who I consider shallow and narcissistic about her self-beauty, disgusts me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder is not a factual statement here in the U.S. where looking good is everything and now it is spreading throughout the world. For there to be a world record for the amount of plastic surgery done just shows how beauty is envied even if it is all silicon and botox. I feel the world should be talking about how to stop hunger or find a cure for AIDS rather than worry about who holds the record for most plastic surgeries.
