Avoid This Cookie (Bad Day Inside)

Traditionally, fortune cookies contain messages that are more optimistic. But Wonton Food, the country's largest fortune cookie maker, has been including more downbeat messages in its cookies recently.
It's bad enough that people live very intense lives and now even the Fortune Cookie is making it worse. I know I eat Chinese food and soon as I am done I want to read my fortune. It really sucks after enjoying such a good meal it is all ruined by a bad cookie.

Mom Takes Cloths Off to Support Kids!

A tongue-in-cheek plan hatched by a group of Spanish moms to raise money for their children's rural school has backfired. The seven middle-aged women posed for an "erotic" calendar last November. It was initially a big hit, but sales have since slumped. Here, ItziarZamarreno appears as Miss October.
I Understand that these moms were trying to do something good for their children by raising money, however from the looks of this photo this woman set a bad example and possibly traumatized her child. She is sitting half naked with a gun and a dead animal, nice and they say all the violence comes from T.V. and video games.

Clinton Downs Shot of Whisky on Trail

CROWN POINT, Ind. (April 13) - Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is used to taking shots on the campaign trail. But on Saturday, she took a shot of a different sort while campaigning in Indiana. The New York senator stopped at Bronko's restaurant in Crown Point and drank a glass of beer, along with a shot of Crown Royal whisky with Hammond, Ind., Mayor Tom McDermott and bar owner Nick Tarailo.
Is that who you want answering the White House phone?

Tavern Tax Service Mixes Beer and Taxes

HOBOKEN, New Jersey (April 11) - The sounds of the Rolling Stones pour from the speakers while beer glasses are filled and a jovial game of darts takes place 10 feet away. It's just another night at the office for Carmine Sodora, certified public accountant. Sodora founded Tavern Tax in 2005. For 10 weeks leading up to the April 15 deadline to submit U.S. income tax returns, he brings his tax-filing services to bars on weekday nights and weekend afternoons. He didn't know of anyone else offering such a service. "I always say to people, 'Where's your beer? I can't have one but you can,'" Sodora said. Although this year he has focused on Hoboken -- a small New Jersey city across the Hudson River from Manhattan, and home to 53 bars and a young population -- he has worked out of New York City bars in the past. "I was looking to expand my personal tax business. It's primarily to go after a demographic -- yuppies," the 30-year-old said, referring to young urban professionals. "I've seen a 75 percent repeat, year after year." At an Irish pub on Wednesday night, Sodora set up shop under a "Tavern Tax" sign with a fold-up table covered with a framed photo of laughing friends, his laptop and a lamp. One by one, clients relaxed in the chair across from him, handing over documents and sipping on beer. "It's more relaxed. Everyone hates to do their taxes," said Hoboken resident Juliet Murphy, 32. "If you can combine it with something you like, it numbs the tax pain."

I guarantee that this man will make a great deal of money this tax season. I think this little tax business that Sodora made in a bar is ingenious. I myself do not worry about tax season but my mother and older relatives have been complaining all my life about filing for taxes. Especially this year from the people I know everyone has been getting hit pretty hard in the tax department. Setting up shop in bars is perfect to target that younger working population. I look at it like this many young working people from like 21-30 are just starting to get settled with being are their own. All their lives they heard older people complain during tax season, especially this year; that a bar setting is ideal for young people. While the accountant goes through the processing, you can have a beer to relax, then if its bad news you can at least numb the pain =]

Police: Man Used Hedgehog As Weapon

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - A New Zealand man has been accused of assault with a prickly weapon - a hedgehog. Police allege that William Singalargh, 27, picked up the hedgehog and threw it at a 15-year-old boy in the North Island east coast town of Whakatane on Feb. 9. "It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks," police Senior Sgt. Bruce Jenkins said Monday. The teen did not need medical treatment, he added. Police arrested Singalargh shortly after the incident, and charged him with assault with a weapon - "namely the hedgehog," Jenkins said. At a hearing in Whakatane District Court on Feb. 14, Singalargh's lawyer said he intended to plead innocent, The Herald on Sunday newspaper reported. The case is due to resume on April 17. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, Jenkins said. "People often get charged with assault for throwing things at other people," Jenkins said, although he admitted the use of a hedgehog as a weapon was "uncommon." It was unclear if he also would face animal cruelty charges. The Herald said the hedgehog was dead when it was collected as evidence, but did not know if it was dead or alive at the time of the alleged attack. The Herald reported Singalargh's arrest under the headline "Raise your hands and step away from the hedgehog."
This article interested me so much just for the simple fact it involves a hedgehog which is animal you really don't often here about. Up until a few years ago I thought Sonic was the only one and that it was just a character that was made up but no no no they do exist and clearly can be used as a weapon. I find rather funny that this man just threw this animal at this teen who was probably just provoking him and got fed up. I hope that the animal was already deceased before it was used as a weapon because I am an animal lover an would be rather upset to find out otherwise. Even if it wasn't, me personally would not be able to pick up a dead animal and throw it at someone but if provoked enough I would go to extreme measures. Now I'm not saying this man was right or wrong but it seems to me that this teen had to be doing something to annoy this adult to make him pick up an animal and improvise it as a weapon rather clever in my book. I just think both sides of the story should be looked at before they begin to pass judgement on this man.

Stingray Leaps Onto Boat, Kills Woman

Judy Kay Zagorski of Pigeon, Mich., died Wednesday after this spotted eagle ray leapt out of the water and struck her face while she was boating with her family off the Florida Keys. The impact, which knocked the 57-year-old backward, likely killed her. She did not appear to have puncture wounds from the stingray's barb.
This is just an insane tragedy that occurs when nature and humans collide. There is nothing to really discuss about this bizarre happening except for the beauty of this animal. Stingrays tend to emerge from the water when they are giving birth, running from a predator, or simply cleaning themselves off. It fascinates me how fate works to think that this woman was just enjoying her day at ease on a boat and this magnificent animal was perhaps trying to escape the grasps of a predator and ended up on this woman's boat. It is a shame that a live had to be lost however it really shows that someone out there as a plan for all the creatures on this planet.

Border Separates Senior Center Couple

PROVO, Utah (AP) - A 96-year-old man who outlived two wives is separated from his third - by immigration problems. Canadian Doreen Buttery, 73, was a temporary visitor when she met Leonard "Woody" Woodward at a senior center in Provo. They wed this year and honeymooned in Alberta - which gave Buttery the chance to sell her house and prepare to move to Provo permanently. But she hadn't filled out the paperwork to immigrate and was stuck at the border as her husband took the bus back to Provo. "We tried to provide her as much guidance as we could," said Larry Overcast, port director at the Customs and Border Protection entry point in Sweetgrass, Montana. Woodward and a neighbor who has a law degree are trying to put together the paperwork to bring Doreen back. But it is a complicated process that takes time. "It's on a merry-go-round," Woodward said. Buttery will also have to go through an interview, so U.S. officials can determine the marriage is legitimate and not just an attempt to bypass immigration rules. Woodward said can still get by on his own, but he doesn't like it. "I need her home, bad," he said
This is a perfect example of what is wrong with this country and why we have immigration problems. I live on Staten Island in a decently nice neighborhood however just walking outside I see a huge immigration problem and its not involving 73 year old women. I see about 40 Mexicans on the street corners in my neighborhood waiting to be picked up and brought to a days work. Now I am not saying that these are the only illegal immigrants in this country I am just giving examples of what I see everyday. Now because they are illegal they do not pay taxes and their children go to public school and get an education on the tax dollars of American citizens. Now I am not saying kick all illegal immigrants out I am just making a connection with the two. I mean if we can support families and generations of illegal immigrants in this country why can we just let the 73 year old woman pass by smoothly. She is at least attempting to do things the right way and we give her grief I mean how much damage could she possibly cause, tax payers will help pay for her medicaid and whatever other expenses the elderly require but she would be a citizen who pays taxes so realistically she would be pulling her own wait unlike the thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants who made it here. I'm not saying deport everyone I am just saying that there is an obviously immigration problem in this country so instead of hounding old woman in Canada maybe we should stop the young people from poorer countries that are just coming here to start a family and make a better life and add to the immigration problem. Its not like this woman can reproduce added to the overcrowded problem in this country.
